Conclusion
Our lab was done fairly well, I really liked this lab and it reminded me how the world is being damaged by oil spills. In our hypothesis, I stated that if we use the materials, we can absorb 70% and contain 90% of the crude oil in the water basin. However, it was done even better. We contained 90% and absorbed 95% of crude oil.
Our most effective material used for containing was the spoon. We were able to contained 90% of crude oil using this material. Our least effective material for containing was the sponge. It only contained 10% of the crude oil. Other than that, the dish soap contained 70% of the oil and the cotton balls contained 60% of the oil.
Our most effective material used for absorbing was the sponge, it was able to absorb 85% of crude oil. Our least effective material for absorbing was both the dish soap and the spoon. They both absorbed 0% of crude oil. Other than that, the cotton balls absorbed 70%.
My data was very well done, it was clear and organized. I also explained what an independent, dependent, and controlled variable is. An independent variable is one that doesn’t depend on anything and will never be effected. A dependent variable is one that do depend on something and will change because of other variables. A controlled variable is one that will never change.
This are some of the resources that I have used.
